New European Central Procurement organization of a leading global retailer

Our principal, a large and market leading global retailer (B2B and B2C) with headquarters in the US, is in the process of centralizing its European Procurement organization in the Netherlands. A final decision has yet to be made on the exact office location but the choice has been narrowed down to two regions: near Utrecht or near Maastricht. It is expected that the European Central Procurement organization will become fully operational in Q1 of 2012.

On behalf of our client we are currently recruiting for multiple procurement officers to staff the new organization (envisioned starting date: as of December 2011).

This retailer has a clear view on the strategic value of the procurement function. Within their organization merchandising and procurement have been intentionally split: procurement is always in the lead regarding negotiations and contract conclusion with vendors. Applicants with a background in retail organizations in which merchandising and procurement are intertwined in one role (e.g. in category management roles) must be fully aware of the fact that such a role is not on offer!

We are searching for ambitious procurement professionals with a proven track record and experience in retail buying on an international scale. Needless to say you will have completed a bachelor or masters degree and possess excellent oral and written skills. Knowledge of other European languages naturally is a plus (Dutch is not a requirement). Travel (mainly throughout Europe) will be required in this role.

Base salary indication (depending on age, qualifications & experience): € 50 to 70K.
